In this post, I will describe and show examples of classic differential equations used in computer vision such as the Poisson, Eikonal, Helmholtz and Wave equations.
My ISBI Highlights
Published:
At the end of the first year of my PhD, I attended the International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI). It is a leading international forum in the field of biomedical imaging, bringing together researchers and professionals from academia and industry. In addition to my paper presentation, I attended a tutorial and some talks organized as part of the conference program. These sessions focused on emerging methodologies, tools, and applications in biomedical imaging.

MICCAI 2024 Enlarged Perivascular Spaces (EPVS) Segmentation Challenge
Published in MICCAI, 2024
Segmenting enlarged perivascular spaces (EPVS) in brain MRIs is particularly challenging as they can vary in size, shape, and location, making them difficult to identify and segment accurately. However, EPVS is important as it is a key marker and early indicator of cerebral vascular diseases.
The challenge provided a limited dataset with only 100 fully annotated training scans, 50 validation scans, and 70 scans for independent testing, sourced from multiple sites and scanners to reflect real-world clinical and research conditions (with varying cognitive profiles). The dataset includes T1-weighted, T2-weighted and FLAIR.
Advanced Deep Learning Models Enhance Piriform Cortex Segmentation for Epilepsy Surgery
Published in ISMRM & ISMRT, 2025
The piriform cortex (PC) is emerging as an important structure for surgery for drug-resistant mesial temporal lobe epilepsy, where resection improves postsurgical outcomes. Current segmentation methods remain suboptimal, necessitating advanced solutions.

Standardized Evaluation of Automatic Methods for Perivascular Spaces Segmentation in MRI–MICCAI 2024 Challenge Results
Published in arXiv, 2025
Despite their clinical significance, automatic enlarged PVS (EPVS) segmentation remains challenging due to their small size, variable morphology, similarity with other pathological features, and limited annotated datasets. This paper presents the EPVS Challenge organized at MICCAI 2024, which aims to advance the development of automated algorithms for EPVS segmentation across multi-site data.

QUT001: Artificial Intelligence in the Real World
Undergraduate course, Queensland University of Technology, Faculty of Engineering, 2025
I am a member of the teaching team in QUT001 unit. It is part of the QUT You program that allows students from different year levels and faculties including Engineering, Business, Health, Law and Design to work together on broad real-world issues. This unit explored what Artificial Intelligent is, how it is developed, and its potential pitfalls. With another tutor in the classroom, we taught students to decipher AI jargon, probe AI systems to understand their capabilites and limitations. The purpose of this class was to raise awareness about how AI may impact their future career, and the challenges to ensure that AI systems acts fairly and ethically. I provided help and support during tutorials and assignment sessions.
CAB420 Machine Learning
Undergraduate course, Queensland University of Technology, Faculty of Engineering, 2026
I am one of the tutors of CAB420 unit. It provides a broad introduction to machine learning from linear regression to deep learning models. Students make use of Python, JupyterLab, Git and common machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, statsmodels, etc.
